When your fertility starts to concern you,
it’s time for a fertility check-up.

Make an appointment for a fertility check-up!

Why come to Ovumia Tallinn’s Fertility check-up?

  • You will receive valuable information about your fertility.
  • You will receive information on maintaining fertility (proactive freezing of eggs).
  • Replaces a gynecologist examination.
  • Includes a specialist visit (30 min), gynecological examination and ultrasound examination.
  • PAPA smear and hormonal tests can be taken if necessary.

Fertility-related issues may be a concern even if the desire to become pregnant is not yet relevant. Discussing with a reproductive expert can then calm your mind. You can come to discuss fertility issues alone or with your partner even if you still use contraception.

If you have already tried pregnancy for more than a year, we recommend that you book a first time visit to one of our infertility doctors instead of having a Fertility check-up.

Factors affecting fertility

Human fertility is the sum of many factors. Studies have shown, in particular, the importance of a woman’s age – we know that fertility begins to decline as early as the age of 30 and that the chance of starting a pregnancy gets quickly smaller after the age of 35. If a pregnancy attempt begins only at the age of 40, the risk of becoming infertile is already high. However, individual variation is large. Men’s age is also important, but it is more difficult to estimate. Healthy lifestyles also play an important role in maintaining fertility. Weight problems, smoking, heavy drug use, or excessive physical activity are known to impair fertility and the chance of becoming pregnant.

Many diseases and medications can affect fertility and make it difficult to start a pregnancy. Examples of such diseases are polycystic ovaries, other menstrual disorders, endometriosis, many hormonal disorders, a history of eating disorder or childhood malignancy. In men, testicular non-deposition, diseased testicular inflammation, testicular drops, or use of hormonal products may affect semen quality.
